What Did Tennessee?

Well, it sure wasn’t Penn State’s hunger now, was it? Joe-Pa’s boys came to Tampa being an overwhelming underdog, and rightfully so. Throughout the season the Nits have looked awful small offensively, and probably would’ve lost a few more games had it not been for their stellar defense. The Volunteers, on the other hand, probably should’ve won more games than they did, especially with the speed they had on offense (at times, this team played like it wanted to win a national championship).

However, Penn State played just well enough on offense, and got a very opportunistic fumble recover for a touchdown on defense, upsetting Tennessee 20-10. Paterno’s world-beaters have a lot to look forward to next season – a quarterback that has finally shown that he might be able to run this offense, a defense that will most likely continue to be stifling, and a very legitimate shot at beating the snot out of Notre Dame (and maybe playing their way into contention for a national championship).

There are obvious question marks – who will take over the captaincy of the defense now that Posluvsny is gone? Who will step up as the next big running back after Tony Hunt’s glorious (and unexpected) career? Will Penn State ever do well in special teams again?
