Lunch and Dinner for Under a Buck????
During our junior year of college at Penn State, Uni Mart (similar to Wawa and 7-Eleven, but not nearly as "classy"), came up with a great idea. Every Tuesday was 19 cent hot-dog day. This was music to the ears of me and Mung. We would stroll down for lunch and dinner with a dollar bill each, and come back with hot dogs that were smothered in onions, meat sauce, mustard, and relish ... oh the tasty delight .... and yes, of course we would suffer from major gas and stomach pains, but it was all worth it - how could one go wrong with 19 cent hot dogs.
We also made out like bandits at the Cafe on Monday nights - 5 cent wing nights during football season. Yes, it was a bit of a walk from our Cedarbrook dwelling, but we were usually willing (the Loop bus could get us there, if we were really lazy and tired) to make the trek in order to annihilate those scrumptious little fat slathered wings. Also, Yuenglings were a dollar a bottle, so we could get drunk and stuffed at a very low price.
Mung and I lived for these moments.
